School-Based Speech Language Pathologist - Elizabeth, New Jersey
An excellent contract opportunity is available for a Speech-Language Pathologist with their CCC to provide coverage during a medical leave for the upcoming school year. This position, starting October 1, 2026, and continuing through November 20, 2026 (with potential extension through the semester), will support a diverse student caseload from PreK through 12th grade. A flexible start date allows the selected clinician to overlap for hands-on shadowing with the outgoing SLP for a smooth transition. All services will be delivered in-person—telepractice candidates will not be considered.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing a caseload of approximately 40 students across PreK–12th grades
- Delivering direct therapy to students, including some nonverbal learners
- Utilizing low-tech AAC devices to support student communication
- Maintaining detailed documentation of student progress and intervention strategies
- Collaborating with teachers, staff, and families to facilitate student progress and support individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Participating in IEP meetings and contributing to multidisciplinary teams
Qualifications and Skills:
- Active ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
- Valid New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) Speech-Language Specialist certification
- Prior experience in a school setting with PreK-12 students
- Comfort and skill working with nonverbal students
- Familiarity with low-tech augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices is preferred
