This in-person contract opportunity spans Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 3:00 pm, supporting a diverse population near Warwick, RI. As an essential part of a collaborative school team, you’ll use your expertise to help students build communication skills and thrive in their educational journey. Caseloads are capped at 18-22 students, ensuring you have the time and support necessary to provide attentive, individualized services.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering comprehensive speech-language therapy for students with varying degrees of developmental and intellectual disabilities
- Collaborating with special educators, behaviorists, and family members to design and implement effective IEPs
- Tracking student progress and maintaining detailed documentation
- Participating in IEP meetings and supporting multidisciplinary teams
- Utilizing behavior intervention strategies as all students receive some level of behavior support
- Adapting session plans and communication tools according to individual needs
- Providing guidance and support to students at all functional levels, focusing on both educational and social participation
Candidates should bring:
- Active Rhode Island Speech-Language Pathology (RI SLP) license
- Certification in CCC or eligibility for Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY)
- School-based SLP experience, especially with students with developmental/intellectual disabilities (preferred)
- Understanding of evidence-based practices and familiarity with behavioral intervention
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Flexibility and compassion for diverse learner profiles
