Speech Language Pathologist in Springfield, OR
Embark on a dynamic, contract-based opportunity supporting students' communication and developmental needs in a K-12 school setting. This full-time position, spanning from August 31, 2026 to June 17, 2027, involves collaborating across up to three nearby campuses, primarily spending half the week at a site serving students with special education needs, and the other half at a location focused on socialization and behavioral growth.
The caseload features approximately 33 students, primarily involved in life skills programming. To thrive in this role, candidates should demonstrate strong expertise with feeding and swallowing (safe eating) strategies and bring familiarity with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). The environment includes a range of student needs, including some high schoolers with significant behavioral challenges; however, extensive support from in-person paraeducators, special education staff, monthly in-person and virtual SLP team meetings, and a collaborative cohort of twelve fellow SLPs ensures you’ll never feel isolated in your role.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current Speech-Language Pathologist license with CCC-SLP certification
- Previous school-based SLP experience strongly preferred
- Hands-on expertise in feeding/swallowing (safe eating protocols) and use of AAC devices
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Adaptability to shifting sites and student needs
- Commitment to fostering inclusive, developmental learning environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver assessments and therapy for speech, language, and communication disorders
- Consult and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, teachers, and families
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Support students in life skills, managing safe swallowing and feeding plans
- Guide AAC integration in classrooms to promote student independence
