Pediatric Skilled Nursing Facility Speech Therapist - Fredericksburg, VA
Take an active role in supporting students’ communication development as a Speech Language Pathologist in a dynamic school environment for the 2025-2026 academic year. This contract position offers the chance to work full-time, Monday through Friday, focusing on elementary students with speech and language needs. You’ll report directly to the Director of Special Education and play a central role in both individualized therapy and collaborative team decisions. The position begins August 13th, 2025, and concludes May 21st, 2026.
Qualifications:
- Current VA SLP License required
- Experience with pediatrics, schools, healthcare, teletherapy, or CFY/SLPA roles is highly desirable
- Strong background in assessment, evaluation, and consultation
- Understanding of special education processes, procedures, and disability categories, with particular expertise in early learning and/or atypical impairments a plus
- Previous school setting experience preferred
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, including active listening and consultative approaches
- Ability to create a positive, engaging, and supportive environment for children, families, and staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver speech and language assessments, diagnostic services, and individualized interventions for students referred for special education
- Serve as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team to provide insights and planning for Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Consult with school staff and families to guide therapy plans and monitor student progress
- Support classroom staff with language program development in both regular and special education settings
- Maintain clear and effective communication with parents, staff, and relevant agencies
