Speech Language Pathologist in Winston-Salem, NC
Make a genuine difference in students’ lives by providing essential support as a School Speech-Language Pathologist within a collaborative special education team. This contract opportunity offers a rewarding experience for Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP) or Certified Clinical Competency SLPs (SLP-CCC) who hold a current North Carolina license. SLP Clinical Fellows (CF) are welcome to apply, as district-provided supervision is available. Please note, SLPA applications cannot be accepted for this assignment.
Based in the vibrant area near Winston-Salem, you’ll primarily serve campuses on the eastern or southern side of the district and work closely with students presenting with autism spectrum disorders and low cognitive disabilities. The assignment is full-time, spanning from August 12, 2026, through June 11, 2027, and totals 35-37.5 hours per week. Caseloads are flexible (up to 35 students), and preferences can be discussed during your interview, ensuring your expertise is matched with an appropriate assignment.
Ideal candidates will possess:
- A valid North Carolina SLP license
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) preferred; SLP-CFs considered
- Previous school-based experience (highly valued)
- Background working with students diagnosed with autism and low cognitive disabilities
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Delivering speech and language therapy to a diverse student caseload
- Conducting assessments, developing IEPs, and monitoring student progress
- Working collaboratively with educators, families, and other specialists to support student achievement
- Maintaining compliance with district, state, and federal regulations
