School Speech Language Pathologist - Waxhaw, North Carolina
A part-time opportunity for a speech-language pathologist is available for the 2026-2027 academic year, supporting high school students with moderate to severe medical needs. This contract position allows for scheduling flexibility, with options for one to two full days per week, and the potential for expanded hours if desired.
Qualifications:
- Valid NC State License as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- Current NC Educator Certification
- Active ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
- Demonstrated expertise with multiple AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and speech-generating devices
- Previous experience working with high school students with significant disabilities
- Ability to work collaboratively with a compassionate and experienced onsite SLP
- Professional demeanor, adaptability, and commitment to best practices
- SLP-CFY and SLPAs will not be considered for this position
Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of approximately 25-35 high school students, most of whom are on support plans with minimal direct therapy needs
- Collaborate closely with an established SLP colleague to address student needs and document progress
- Provide specialized support for nonverbal, minimally verbal, or AAC-dependent students
- Evaluate, implement, and monitor individualized communication programs using a variety of AAC/speech-generating devices
- Participate in IEP team meetings as required, sharing expertise on communication access and strategies
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with district and state guidelines
