Speech Pathology - Waxhaw, NC
Make a difference by providing dedicated speech-language pathology support to high school students with complex communication needs. This contract role offers flexibility for an SLP with expertise in AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices. You'll work in a compassionate, collaborative environment alongside another experienced SLP, serving approximately 25-35 students—primarily those who are nonverbal or minimally verbal and require AAC devices.
Key Qualifications:
- Active North Carolina State License AND Educator Certification are required
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred
- Previous experience working in schools and/or with medically fragile students strongly desired
- Extensive knowledge of AAC and speech-generating devices, including multiple platforms
- A passion for supporting high school students with severe disabilities and complex communication needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide assessment, consultation, and support to students who rely on AAC technology
- Collaborate closely with an on-site SLP, teachers, and support staff
- Contribute to support plans and documentation with a focus on individualized care
- Deliver minimal direct therapy, focusing instead on ensuring appropriate device usage, training, and maximizing student independence
- Participate in IEP meetings and family conferences as needed
- Engage in pre- and post-planning days, with potential to increase hours through additional placements
This contract offers part-time flexibility—ideally 1-2 full days per week (7.5–15 hours), but other configurations may be considered.
