Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist in The Dalles, OR
Make a real difference supporting a young student with complex medical needs in a school setting. This contract opportunity is for a dedicated RN who will work one-on-one with a first grader with a congenital heart and lung condition requiring ventilator support. You’ll provide essential care, offer reassurance, and collaborate closely with school staff to ensure the student can thrive academically and socially.
What you’ll need:
- Current, valid Oregon RN license
- Experience supporting pediatric populations, especially in educational or healthcare environments
- Confidence managing medical equipment such as ventilators, including breathing treatments, tube blockages, and suctioning as needed
- A compassionate and adaptable approach to supporting students with complex medical/physical challenges
- Effective communication with education staff, therapy providers, and families
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, welcoming school environment
What your days will look like:
- Partner one-on-one with your student, managing ventilator care and responding swiftly to any medical needs during the school day
- Support bathrooming, mobility, and other essential daily activities
- Quickly address emergent needs and maintain proactive oversight of the student’s health status
- Coordinate with teachers, specialists, and aides to facilitate ongoing educational participation and inclusion
- Document care provided and communicate with healthcare and school teams about student progress
This contract runs for the full academic year, with a part-time schedule—just two days per week—offering the flexibility to balance your professional and personal commitments. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring that your student has the safe, supportive attention needed to access the school community.
