Step into a meaningful contract role supporting a young student with significant health needs in a welcoming school environment near Hood River, OR. This part-time position offers the chance to make a direct impact by working 1:1 with a first grader living with a congenital heart and lung condition requiring ventilator support. Your expertise and care will ensure the student’s safety and comfort throughout the school day, while collaborating closely with dedicated educational staff.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Oregon RN license required
  • Experience working with pediatric populations, ideally in school or healthcare settings
  • Skilled in ventilator management, suctioning, and administering breathing treatments
  • Ability to provide personal care, including bathroom support
  • Compassion, attentiveness, and commitment to supporting students with complex medical needs
  • Comfortable working within a multidisciplinary team

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the student’s ventilator, perform breathing treatments, and clear airway blockages as needed
  • Deliver daily personal care, assist with mobility and movement throughout the school day
  • Remain alert to changes in the student’s health status and communicate updates with school staff and caregivers
  • Collaborate with teachers and therapists to ensure the student’s educational and medical needs are seamlessly supported
  • Document care and interventions according to school procedures

This contract role covers the full academic year (8/28/23–6/6/24), working two days per week. You’ll be part of a supportive team where your specialized skills enable students with critical health needs to access and benefit from their education.
