This role requires you to provide specialized Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) support, with a unique focus on eye gaze technology, to a single high school student, as well as conducting evaluations for private school referrals. You’ll work 20 hours per week, blending remote responsibilities with on-site visits at a San Antonio high school just two hours weekly.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Speech-Language Pathology license from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA (with hours logged)
- Experience supporting students in school-based settings
- Specific background in AT (Assistive Technology), especially in programming, calibrating, and maintaining eye gaze devices such as Accent
- Capability and willingness to provide direct in-person services weekly for two hours, and complete indirect services remotely
- Up-to-date references for credentialing
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct speech-language services to a high school student utilizing an Accent eye gaze device, including ongoing management and support of the technology
- Provide indirect AT consultation and support to the student’s educational team
- Calibrate, program, and maintain the eye gaze device to ensure optimal function for the student’s needs
- Conduct speech-language evaluations for private school referrals
- Document services and communicate effectively with school staff and families
This contract offers the flexibility of hybrid work, allowing for a balanced work-life schedule while making a distinct impact on a student’s educational experience.
