Speech Therapist in Mesquite, TX
Step into a vital role supporting students in a regional day school program for the deaf, helping to shape their growth and development through dedicated speech-language therapy. This full-time, on-site contract position runs from August 11, 2026, through May 28, 2027, offering you the opportunity to apply your ASL fluency and SLP expertise within a collaborative and rewarding educational environment. With 37.5 hours per week and a focus on therapy-driven services, you’ll become part of a specialized team making a meaningful difference for approximately 130 DHH students—working closely with fellow SLPs and educators.
Qualifications:
- Active Texas SLP license
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) or current DHHT certification
- Experience supporting DHH (Deaf or Hard of Hearing) students in a school environment preferred
- Completion of TEA fingerprint clearance prior to start (unless already completed recently for another public school district)
- Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct speech-language therapy services tailored for students in the DHH program
- Provide therapy-focused interventions as part of a three-therapist team
- Collaborate with staff, families, and students to support academic and personal development
- Maintain thorough documentation of student progress, goals, and treatment
- Participate in IEP meetings and program planning related to speech-language services
- Adhere to all school policies and professional ethical standards
