School Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) | Elizabeth, New Jersey
An engaging opportunity is available for a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist to contribute to an educational setting near Elizabeth, NJ. This contract position is ideal for a professional who thrives in a dynamic school environment and is dedicated to supporting student communication needs.
Currently, therapy is provided individually to approximately 35 students, with the potential for a growing caseload as additional Early Intervention cases are expected. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in evaluating, treating, and supporting students through their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including active participation in meetings to ensure comprehensive care.
Professionals with experience or proficiency in augmentative communication devices are highly desired, as several students use or may benefit from these supports. This is a contract role, initially covering a leave of absence, expected to last through November, with potential for extension.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current and valid state licensure/certification in Speech-Language Pathology (required for consideration)
- School-based SLP experience strongly preferred
- Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices beneficial
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and participate actively in IEP meetings
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Capacity to handle a growing caseload, including Early Intervention referrals
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide individualized therapy to students
- Document progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with school and state requirements
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other team members to support student development
- Attend and meaningfully contribute to IEP meetings
- Adjust interventions and supports as students’ needs evolve
