Position Overview
Hamilton County Schools is seeking two dedicated Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) to provide comprehensive speech and language services to students across the district. The SLP will evaluate, diagnose, and treat communication disorders that impact students' educational performance while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support student success.
Additional details regarding caseload and age groups are forthcoming as the district finalizes staffing needs for the upcoming school year. Historically, openings have primarily supported elementary-aged students.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct speech-language screenings, evaluations, and assessments.
- Interpret assessment results and prepare written reports.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and IEP goals.
- Provide direct and indirect speech-language therapy services.
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and related service providers.
- Monitor student progress and adjust therapy plans as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation, service logs, and progress reports.
- Provide recommendations for classroom accommodations and communication supports.
- Support students utilizing assistive technology and AAC devices when appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with IDEA, Tennessee Department of Education regulations, and district policies.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Active Tennessee Speech-Language Pathologist License.
- Active Tennessee Department of Education (DOE) Certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Knowledge of special education regulations, IDEA, and IEP processes.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Credentialing Requirements
- Active Tennessee SLP License.
- Active Tennessee DOE Certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Completion of district-required fingerprinting and background clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous school-based experience.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students.
- Familiarity with AAC systems and assistive technology.
- Experience serving students with a variety of communication disorders and disabilities.
Additional Information
- Two (2) openings available.
- Full-time schedule of 35 hours per week.
- Onsite services only; virtual candidates will not be considered.
- School assignment(s) will vary based on district needs.
- Competitive compensation of $35.00–$45.00 per hour, based on experience.
