ASL-Fluent School Speech Language Pathologist
Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join a Day School Program for the Deaf for the 2026–2027 school year. This position serves students from PreK 3 through 12th grade who have varying levels of hearing loss. Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required, as ASL is an essential mode of communication throughout the program.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in supporting the communication needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing and will collaborate closely with educators, families, and interdisciplinary team members to promote student success.
- Conduct speech, language, and communication assessments for students with hearing loss.
- Develop and implement individualized therapy plans aligned with IEP goals and educational needs.
- Provide direct and indirect speech-language services to students across PreK through 12th grade.
- Utilize ASL effectively to communicate with students, staff, and families as appropriate.
- Support the development of receptive and expressive language, speech production, social communication, and functional communication skills.
- Collaborate with teachers, audiologists, interpreters, and other related service providers to support student achievement.
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions.
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and service logs in accordance with school and state requirements.
- Consult with staff regarding classroom accommodations and communication strategies.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Current state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred.
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) required.
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing preferred.
- School-based experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
