Speech Language Pathologist - Tacoma, WA
Location: Tacoma WA
Position Type: Full-Time | School Year Position
Hours: Monday–Friday, FT (32.5 hours/week)
Start Date: Immediately
We are seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and student-focused Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to join our educational team in Tacoma, WA. The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting students in developing communication skills that promote academic success, social development, and independence while working closely with the supervising SLP and school team.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct speech and language therapy services to students under the supervision of a licensed SLP
- Implement treatment plans and speech-language goals developed by the supervising SLP
- Support students with articulation, receptive and expressive language, fluency, social communication, and other communication needs
- Assist with AAC implementation and other communication strategies as directed by the supervising SLP
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, families, and other members of the educational team
- Document therapy sessions, student progress, and other required service information
- Assist the supervising SLP with monitoring student progress and communicating observations
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions as appropriate
- Maintain compliance with school and state requirements related to speech-language services
- Create a positive, engaging, and student-centered therapy environment
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant studies, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a related field
- Valid Washington State SLPA credential or eligibility to obtain
- Previous school-based experience preferred but not required
- Experience working with children or students with communication needs preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work effectively under the supervision of a licensed SLP
- Passion for supporting students and helping them reach their communication goals
