School-Based Speech Language Pathologist | Waterbury, Connecticut

This full-time position is available from August 12th to November 1st, covering a maternity leave in the North Haven area. You'll work with a diverse group of students, including those with significant autism spectrum disorders and other disabilities, making a meaningful difference in their daily communication and overall educational success.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Current state licensure to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- Previous experience in school settings is highly valued
- Familiarity with complex needs populations, including students with significant ASD, multiple disabilities, or communication challenges
- Strong communication and collaborative skills to engage effectively with students, educators, and families
- Ability to adapt therapy techniques to meet individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent organizational skills for maintaining documentation and complying with school protocols
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct speech and language therapy services in accordance with students’ IEPs
- Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and maintain precise records
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including teachers, aides, and parents to maximize student outcomes
- Support and adapt communication strategies, alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) devices, and visual supports as needed
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student progress reports
- Offer guidance and resources to staff and families focused on supporting communication development
