🚀 Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for a full-time onsite role in a Virginia school division for the 2026–2027 school year. This position supports an elementary caseload and includes service delivery within two autism program classrooms located at a school in the northern region of the division.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in structured special education programs while also supporting general education elementary students with a range of speech and language needs.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct speech-language screenings, evaluations, and assessments
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and treatment plans
  • Provide direct and consultative speech-language therapy services
  • Serve elementary students across general education and autism program classrooms
  • Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team collaboration
  • Maintain accurate documentation, progress monitoring, and compliance records
  • Collaborate with teachers, autism program staff, and related service providers
  • Support AAC users and students with complex communication needs
  • Ensure compliance with IDEA and Virginia Department of Education requirements

📌 Virginia State Requirements

Candidates must meet Virginia requirements for school-based Speech-Language Pathologists, including:

  • 🎓 Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
  • 🪪 Active Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology License (required for all SLP practice in Virginia, including schools)
  • 🪪 Active or eligible Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) School Speech-Language Pathologist License (required for employment in public school divisions)
  • 📚 Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education service delivery procedures
  • 🔍 Completion of required background checks and fingerprint clearance for school placement
  • 🧠 Ability to provide services in accordance with both clinical licensure and school-based educational requirements

  • School-based experience preferred
  • Experience working with autism program classrooms or structured support settings
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with AAC systems and assistive technology
  • Ability to manage mixed caseloads (general education + specialized programs)
