School Speech Language Pathologist - South Amboy, NJ
Step into an essential role supporting students as a contract speech-language pathologist for a PreK–12 caseload of approximately 40 students. This assignment begins October 1, 2026, and will run through November 20, 2026, with the possibility of extension through the end of the semester. You’ll play a critical part in delivering speech and language services during a colleague’s medical leave, and there is the option to start earlier for shadowing and a seamless handover with the current SLP.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA
- New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) Speech-Language Specialist certification
- Experience working with school-aged children in an educational setting
- Familiarity with low-tech AAC devices and supporting nonverbal students is highly desired
- Must be available for onsite, in-person services (no virtual/remote services)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct speech-language therapy to students from PreK through 12th grade
- Support a varied caseload, including students who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems
- Complete comprehensive assessments, develop treatment plans, and contribute to IEP meetings
- Maintain accurate documentation and collaborate with multidisciplinary educational teams
- Engage in a brief onboarding period by shadowing the current SLP preparing for leave
