Speech-Language Pathologist in Monroe, NC
Make a meaningful impact by supporting high school students with complex communication needs in a collaborative educational environment. This contract opportunity begins August 24, 2026, and runs through June 4, 2027, with the possibility of a few additional days for pre- and post-planning. You’ll have the flexibility to work 1–2 days per week (7.5 to 15 hours), and can coordinate with other placements to expand your hours if desired.
Your main focus will be working alongside a highly respected Speech-Language Pathologist in a high school serving students with moderate to severe medical needs. The majority of your caseload will involve supporting students on communication support plans, including a high proportion who are nonverbal or minimally verbal and require AAC or speech-generating devices.
Qualifications:
- Current NC State License and NC Educator Certification (required)
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Experience in a school setting, preferably with high school students
- Extensive hands-on expertise with a broad range of AAC and speech-generating devices
- Deep understanding of needs of students with significant disabilities
- SLP-CFYs and SLPAs cannot be considered for this position
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with an experienced SLP colleague to manage a caseload of approximately 25–35 high school students
- Provide expert guidance and support for AAC device use and speech supplementation
- Implement, monitor, and update individualized student support plans
- Engage in compassionate, patient-centered service, considering medical and educational needs
