School-Based SLP | Flushing, New York

This contract role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse caseload, including students with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and other genetic conditions. Many students are non-verbal and use AAC devices, allowing you to truly make a difference by helping each student find their voice and communicate effectively.
Key qualifications and experience:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Valid state licensure and active ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
- Prior experience working in school settings, preferably with high-school aged students
- Familiarity with AAC devices and non-verbal communication strategies
- Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and special education processes
- Compassion, flexibility, and excellent collaboration skills
Daily responsibilities:
- Provide direct speech and language therapy to students with a variety of communication challenges
- Assess, develop, and implement individualized treatment plans in accordance with students' IEPs
- Utilize AAC devices and other augmentative strategies to support non-verbal students
- Collaborate closely with classroom staff, educators, and interdisciplinary teams
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in meetings as needed
- Offer guidance to families and staff on communication support strategies
