Your skills will impact students with diverse needs, including those with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and a variety of genetic disorders. Many students are non-verbal and benefit from augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices, offering a unique opportunity to broaden your practice.

Position Highlights:

  • Full-time schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–2:00 PM
  • Caseload includes students with significant communication needs and complex disorders
  • High school environment that fosters collaboration and ongoing professional development
  • Utilize and adapt AAC systems to facilitate students’ communication goals
  • Collaborate with other therapists, educators, and support staff to develop and implement effective IEPs

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Current Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) licensure in New York
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA required
  • Previous experience in a school setting preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with AAC devices strongly desired
  • Strong skills in assessment, direct therapy, and documentation
  • Collaborative mindset and commitment to supporting both students and colleagues

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct therapy for students with a range of communication disorders
  • Conduct comprehensive speech-language and communication assessments
  • Implement and monitor AAC device use in daily classroom activities
  • Document student progress and update IEPs as needed
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic student support
