A Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) position is available for the current school year in Fairfield, CA, supporting elementary students in a school setting. This full-time, in-person role involves delivering targeted speech-language interventions and assisting a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist to provide educational support tailored to students with speech-language disorders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement individualized therapy programs designed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist to enhance student speech skills.
- Collect case histories, complete observational assessments, and assist in administering and scoring evaluations.
- Support the Speech-Language Pathologist during student assessments and collaborate with parents as needed.
- Administer progress monitoring tasks and assist in documentation preparation, including evaluations and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Participate in meetings such as IEP conferences and parent meetings to communicate student progress and goals.
- Facilitate student transportation to and from therapy or testing areas.
- Foster collaborative communication with therapists, teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student development.
Qualifications:
- Active Speech Language Pathologist Assistant license.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Speech, Language and Hearing or Communication Disorders.
- Prior experience in a school setting or as a paraprofessional preferred.
- Training or experience in language and/or articulation therapy is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills, including active listening and collaborative engagement.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn and apply new strategies.
