Key skills and certifications for success include:
- Valid Illinois licensure as an SLPA, SLP-CFY, or SLP-CCC
- Prior experience or practicum within school-based settings preferred
- Knowledge of speech and language disorders common to elementary-age students
- Familiarity with IEPs and progress monitoring for diverse learners
- Effective communication and collaboration with educators, families, and support staff
- Dedication to developing communication skills in students via evidence-based interventions
Role responsibilities will involve:
- Providing direct speech and language therapy to students in grades K-6
- Supporting up to five classrooms, each with no more than six students
- Contributing to case conferences and updating IEP documentation as needed
- Adjusting service delivery for ESY programming from June 1 – June 29
- Transitioning smoothly into the new school year, with staff start date on August 13
- Participating actively in a multidisciplinary team approach
