Virtual Speech-Language Pathologist - Virginia
Qualifications • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited program • Active Virginia Speech-Language Pathologist license issued by the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology • Active Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) Pupil Personnel Services License with a Speech-Language Pathologist endorsement (or eligibility) • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred • Minimum of 2+ years of experience (school-based and/or teletherapy preferred) • Experience with IEP development, virtual evaluations, and remote therapy delivery is a plus • Strong communication, clinical, and organizational skills • Comfortable using teletherapy platforms and digital speech-language tools
Key Responsibilities Assessment & Intervention • Conduct comprehensive virtual speech and language evaluations to diagnose articulation, language, fluency, and communication disorders • Design and implement individualized speech therapy plans tailored to student needs in a virtual environment • Deliver direct telepractice services focused on academic and functional communication goals, tracking student progress • Use objective data to make clinical adjustments to therapy techniques and intervention plans
Collaboration & Support • Collaborate closely with general and special education teachers, parents, and school administrators to ensure student success • Provide classroom accommodation strategies, consultation, and home carryover activities for speech development • Participate actively in virtual IEP team meetings, eligibility committees, and 504 plan reviews
Documentation & Compliance • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of direct service logs, progress notes, and IEP goal updates • Ensure all evaluations and clinical services strictly align with Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) standards, district policies, and IDEA guidelines • Prepare thorough evaluation summaries, eligibility paperwork, and state-mandated compliance documentation
Technology & Teletherapy Tools • Utilize interactive digital therapy platforms, engaging visual stimuli, and virtual assessment kits to conduct sessions • Adapt digital and instructional materials to optimize communication engagement in an online setting • Guide onsite facilitators and parents with virtual platform setup and basic tech troubleshooting
Advocacy & Education • Guide students in developing functional communication, self-advocacy, and AAC utilization skills where appropriate • Provide training, educational resources, and consultative support to school staff and families regarding pediatric speech and language development
