Speech Language Pathologist in South Amboy, NJ
Step into a rewarding school-based position supporting students ranging from PreK through 12th grade, covering a medical leave for the upcoming semester. This contract opportunity begins on October 1, 2026, with a likely duration through November 20, 2026, and the potential to extend through the end of the semester. An earlier start date is possible to allow valuable shadowing time with the current speech-language pathologist.
In this role, you’ll work in person with a caseload of approximately 40 students, including some who are nonverbal. Experience or familiarity using low-tech AAC devices is especially valued. You’ll have the chance to make a true impact across a diverse student population – helping each young learner build their communication skills and confidence.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) required
- NJDOE certification essential
- Background in school-based speech-language pathology
- Proficiency working with low-tech AAC devices preferred
- Experience supporting a range of needs, including nonverbal students
- Ability to provide exclusively in-person support (no remote or teletherapy)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver diagnosis, treatment, and support for around 40 students in PreK-12 grades
- Collaborate with teaching staff and related services to develop and implement individualized treatment goals
- Maintain accurate records of student progress
- Adapt communication strategies and materials to match a wide range of abilities
- Participate in IEP meetings and parent conferences as needed
