Professionally, you’ll collaborate with a diverse team, expanding your skill set by working with students across a spectrum of needs—including two autism classrooms (with many AAC users) and cross-categorical educational environments. This hands-on experience not only enhances your resume but also deepens your knowledge by exposing you to varied teaching strategies and leadership styles.
Qualifications:
- Active Illinois SLP License (required)
- Previous experience in school-based or pediatric settings preferred
- Familiarity with AAC devices highly desirable
- Professional Educator License (PEL) as required by state/district
- Strong interpersonal skills and adaptability in diverse school environments
Duties:
- Serve approximately 20 students in autism classrooms and an additional 15 in cross-categorical settings, plus 1 general education student
- Conduct assessments, develop and implement IEPs, and monitor student progress
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, educators, and families to maximize student outcomes
- Offer AAC support and intervention strategies as needed
