School Speech Language Pathologist - Rockford, IL
Step into a fulfilling role providing essential speech-language pathology services in a supportive school setting. This onsite contract opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful difference for students with diverse learning needs, including those in specialized and mainstream classrooms.
In this position, you’ll work full-time from December 17th through March 12th, engaging with approximately 20 students in two dedicated autism classrooms, many utilizing augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). You’ll also support around 15 additional students in cross-categorical classrooms and one student in a general education environment. Your expertise and compassion will help empower students and promote effective communication strategies tailored to their unique needs.
Qualifications:
- Current Illinois SLP license (Illinois State Licensure required)
- Professional Educator License (PEL) preferred
- Experience with AAC devices and strategies is highly valued
- Prior experience in school-based settings, especially with autism spectrum and cross-categorical populations, is desirable
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments, develop, and implement individualized therapy plans
- Deliver direct speech-language services to students within designated classrooms
- Collaborate with teachers, aides, and families to support student learning
- Document progress and maintain thorough records in accordance with district and state guidelines
- Contribute insights and recommendations during IEP meetings
