Step into a rewarding part-time role where your expertise as a Speech-Language Pathologist can make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with developmental disabilities and autism. This contract position, located near Rochester, NY, offers you the opportunity to work in a close-knit educational setting serving a diverse group of learners ages 7-21, following the school calendar plus a 6-week Extended School Year (ESY).

You’ll support students within a 6:1:3 classroom ratio, with all students presenting IQs below 70; many utilize Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and most are nonverbal. Your work will be rooted at one convenient campus, where you’ll collaborate with a dedicated multidisciplinary team to foster communicative growth, social participation, and functional independence.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and active CCC-SLP credential required
  • Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorders and developmental disabilities, preferably in a school-based setting
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AAC devices/strategies and nonverbal communication
  • Compassion for working with students exhibiting a range of behaviors and communication needs
  • Current license to practice as an SLP in New York

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized and group SLP therapy sessions
  • Develop and implement IEP goals tailored to each student’s unique profile
  • Collaborate with teachers, families, therapists, and support staff to support consistent communication strategies
  • Assist with AAC assessments, device programming, and training
  • Document progress, participate in team meetings, and contribute to a positive, nurturing school environment
