Speech Language Pathologist in Metairie, LA
Support students’ communication needs and make a meaningful impact in a school environment as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). This contract position offers an opportunity to collaborate closely with educators, families, and other professionals, guiding students toward improved academic and social outcomes. Candidates must have their Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP), and experience with or licensure as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) is a plus.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences & Disorders
- Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA
- Valid state license to practice as an SLP
- Experience supervising or collaborating with SLPAs preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills
- Familiarity with Individualized Education Program (IEP) processes
- Ability to foster rapport with students from diverse backgrounds
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive speech, language, and communication assessments
- Develop and implement individualized therapy plans in alignment with IEPs
- Provide direct and consultative therapy services to students
- Supervise and support SLPAs, ensuring fidelity to treatment plans
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, sharing progress and recommendations
- Maintain thorough and timely documentation of services and student progress
- Educate staff and families on communication disorders, strategies, and supports
