School Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) | Independence, Missouri
A fantastic opportunity awaits a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist to work with an Autism program at the elementary level. This contract role is conveniently located near Independence, MO, running from August 17, 2026, through September 4, 2026, covering a maternity leave. Working onsite during school hours (9am–4:40pm, Monday through Friday), you'll join a dedicated team focused on supporting students' communication development in an engaging and supportive environment.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active SLP license required
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred
- Previous experience in a school setting, especially with autism programs, highly desirable
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration abilities
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive environment for students
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct speech and language therapy to elementary-aged students in the Autism program
- Develop, implement, and update individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families
- Monitor and document student progress, maintaining organized and confidential records
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team decisions
- Offer guidance for classroom strategies and communication supports
