School Speech and Language Pathologist | Elgin, Illinois
Step into an exciting opportunity supporting students' communication and language development this summer! This contract-based position is perfect for speech-language pathologists who thrive in dynamic school settings and are passionate about providing high-quality therapy to children.
Your primary focus will be providing speech and language services to a caseload of approximately 15 students, collaborating closely with educators and families to foster student growth. The assignment runs from June 8th to July 2nd. The first day (June 8th) is scheduled from 8:00am to 2:00pm; subsequent days are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 12:15pm. This schedule offers you the chance to make a meaningful impact while enjoying afternoons free for relaxation or other commitments.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as an SLP in Illinois
- Prior experience or strong interest in school-based practice
- Solid understanding of IEP development and speech therapy documentation
- Skilled in engaging with children of diverse backgrounds and abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct speech-language assessments and develop individualized intervention plans
- Deliver direct therapy services to students according to their IEPs
- Maintain thorough and timely documentation
- Collaborate with teachers and other specialists to support student success
- Participate in team meetings and communicate progress with families
- Adapt approaches to meet each student’s unique needs
