School Speech Language Pathologist - Chicago, IL
Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students in an on-site role as a Speech-Language Pathologist near Chicago, IL. This full-time position offers 35 hours per week, running from now through June 1, 2027, and provides the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of learners ranging in age from early childhood to young adulthood (ages 3–21), depending on school placement.
In this in-person only setting, you’ll collaborate closely with educators, families, and support staff, helping students develop and strengthen vital communication skills that shape academic and social success.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active Illinois Speech-Language Pathologist license required
- Professional Educator License (PEL) in Illinois is mandatory
- Previous experience in school settings highly valued
- Skilled in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating a broad range of speech, language, and communication disorders
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive speech and language assessments and therapy services to students
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) appropriate for each student’s needs
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student success and progress
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of evaluations, treatment, and progress notes
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
- Adapt therapy approaches to suit various age groups from preschool to high school transition-age students
