Qualifications and Skills:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Current state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
- Experience in hospital or acute care settings preferred
- Strong knowledge of assessment and intervention for speech, language, and swallowing disorders
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to educate, collaborate, and interact with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and families
Schedule:
- Contract position; schedule discussed during interview
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct direct patient care involving assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of speech, language, and swallowing difficulties
- Complete comprehensive patient documentation, including evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries
- Coordinate with insurance providers regarding patient benefits and coverage
- Prepare for evaluation and therapy sessions, ensuring all materials and settings are ready
- Provide targeted education to nurses, physicians, dietitians, and food service staff based on evaluation outcomes and current best practices
- Develop in-service presentations to support ongoing staff learning
- Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to ensure holistic, patient-centered care
- Maintain cleanliness of therapy and treatment rooms
- Place reminder calls to patients and assist them and their families in navigating the hospital as needed
- Undertake additional assignments as required
