Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) - San Jose, CA
An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to support elementary students in a San Jose, CA school setting during the 2026-2027 school year. This contract position offers a full-time schedule, working 40 hours per week over 5 days. The role involves working closely with students who require extensive support, utilizing augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices, and collaborating with educational teams to foster student progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist licensed Speech-Language Pathologists in delivering speech and language services to elementary students
- Support students with extensive communication needs, incorporating AAC devices as appropriate
- Collect accurate data and conduct progress monitoring to inform individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with educators, therapists, and families to develop effective communication strategies
- Maintain detailed documentation to ensure compliance with school protocols
Qualifications:
- Valid SLPA certification in California with a minimum of one year of experience
- Previous experience working within a school district environment
- Demonstrated ability to work with students requiring significant support
- Proficiency in data collection and progress monitoring techniques
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required
