Speech Language Pathologist Assistant - Portland, TX
Step into a rewarding contract position supporting students as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) for the first six weeks of the school year. Located near the beautiful Southeast Texas Coast, you’ll be part of an enthusiastic team helping the district meet an essential need as new hires complete their licensure requirements through supervised observation hours.
You’ll work full-time (35 hours weekly) and offer valuable assistance with caseloads spanning various age groups. The number of schools assigned will be determined following further discussions with district leadership. This is an excellent opportunity for motivated SLPAs who are eager to make a direct impact in an educational setting.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Active Texas SLPA licensure required
- Experience in school-based SLPA roles strongly preferred
- Ability to quickly complete Texas fingerprinting for credentialing (if not already on file)
- Flexibility and adaptability as caseload and school assignments are finalized
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to ethical, professional standards in all interactions
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide speech-language therapy support to students under the supervision of licensed SLPs
- Assist with implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Document student progress, sessions, and outcomes as directed
- Collaborate with other educational professionals for comprehensive student support
- Manage assigned caseload and adapt to changing priorities as needed
This contract role starts August 10, 2026, and is anticipated to last approximately six weeks, with the possibility for extension dependent on district needs. You’ll be working alongside dedicated colleagues in a vibrant, supportive school community.
