School-Based Speech Language Pathologist - Waukegan, Illinois
Bring your expertise in speech-language pathology to an impactful school setting for the 2026-2027 academic year. This part-time contract position focuses on supporting a K-2 caseload of 9 students, all onsite, with the rewarding opportunity to help young learners develop crucial communication skills. Take part in orientation from August 12th to August 14th as you begin your assignment.
Desired qualifications:
- Active Illinois Speech-Language Pathologist license and PEL (Professional Educator License); please submit a screenshot with your application (license lookup resources available upon request)
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) strongly valued; strong Clinical Fellows are also encouraged to apply
- Experience or coursework in K-2 student populations preferred
- Familiarity with IEP processes and school-based documentation practices
- Collaborative approach with educators and families
In this role, you will:
- Provide direct speech and language therapy to a select caseload of K-2 students with diverse communication needs
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Conduct assessments and maintain required progress reports
- Collaborate with special education staff and classroom teachers for holistic student support
- Participate in IEP meetings and staff conferences as needed
This position covers 7 hours per week and promotes meaningful connections with students in a supportive, resource-rich environment. You’ll help shape foundational language and communication abilities while benefiting from a consistent, flexible weekly schedule that allows time for other personal or professional pursuits.
