Speech Language Pathologist in Portsmouth, VA
Step into a fulfilling role working with young learners as a school-based Speech-Language Pathologist on a contract assignment in the Virginia Beach area. These opportunities are designed to cover maternity leaves in a supportive educational environment, with each SLP serving one assigned school throughout their assignment. You will engage with students from Pre-K through 5th grade, collaborating closely with teachers and educational staff to support student communication and language development. Onsite presence is required for these positions.
Contract assignments are available at primary and elementary school sites, each offering a welcoming atmosphere, with school hours between 7:20 AM and 3:00 PM, depending on the specific campus. Start and end dates for each position fall between late February and mid-June 2027.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Active Virginia Speech-Language Pathology license
- Recent experience in a school setting, providing assessment and intervention for Pre-K and elementary-aged children
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- A positive, team-oriented approach with a commitment to student success
- Ability to work onsite (virtual or hybrid assignments are not accepted for these positions)
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct speech, language, and communication assessments for assigned caseloads
- Design and implement individualized therapy plans
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports
- Participate in IEP meetings and support school-wide initiatives to foster inclusive learning
