School Speech Language Pathologist - Portsmouth, Virginia
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting young learners’ communication and language development in the Virginia Beach area. Multiple school-based SLP assignments are opening due to maternity leaves, each offering a unique chance to make a meaningful impact in a vibrant learning community. You’ll work on-site with students from preschool through 5th grade, collaborating with educators to deliver individualized speech and language services.
Assignments are available at welcoming elementary campuses with staggered start dates between late February and mid-March 2027, all concluding in June 2027. Each SLP will be assigned to just one school, with consistent schedules running 35 hours per week during standard school hours. What we’re seeking:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Current, active VA SLP license
- Previous experience in a school-based setting, ideally with PK-5th grade
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Dedication to on-site work (no VOCO or hybrid arrangements)
- Strong organizational skills and adaptability to support students through transitions
What you will do:
- Provide direct speech and language therapy to students on your assigned caseload
- Complete evaluations, develop IEPs, and maintain thorough documentation
- Work closely with teachers, support staff, and families to promote student progress
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to comprehensive support plans
- Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment for diverse learners
