Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in Peoria, IL
Take the next step in your speech-language pathology career by supporting early learners through a full-time, contract opportunity near Peoria, IL. This position is dedicated to serving children from birth to age five in a comprehensive program, including Head Start and Early Head Start. You'll be working throughout the full school year, with a home base at one of three locations and the flexibility to assist at multiple sites as needed.
As an essential part of a dynamic, collaborative team, you’ll interact closely with district staff on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and provide expert guidance during meetings. Your expertise will be tapped to support not just the students, but also their families, empowering parents in their vital role throughout the learning journey. Occasionally, you’ll support or assist home visitors when an ISPP/IEP specifies this need, ensuring that services are delivered effectively in a variety of settings.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and current licensure
- ASHA CCC-SLP certification preferred
- Experience working with early childhood populations (birth–5) strongly desired
- Familiarity with Head Start/Early Head Start guidelines is a plus
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across multi-disciplinary teams
- Understanding of IEP processes and compliance
- Flexibility to travel between multiple sites as needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct speech and language services to children, both individually and in small groups
- Collaborate with district teams to develop and implement IEPs
- Provide resources, coaching, and support to parents and caregivers
- Participate in IEP meetings and documentation
- Facilitate seamless communication between families, staff, and administrators
- Support home visitors as required by ISPP/IEPs
