School-Based Speech Language Pathologist | East Peoria, Illinois
Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting the youngest learners in a vibrant school community! As a Speech-Language Pathologist, your expertise will make a direct impact on children ages birth to five through Head Start and Early Head Start programs. Work on a contract basis for the full school year, collaborating closely with district teams to develop and implement effective IEPs.
You'll operate across multiple locations, with a dedicated home base for your activities. Enjoy a dynamic mix of responsibilities, from assisting home visitors to providing essential support for parents as their children embark on their educational journeys. If the IEP or ISPs require, you’ll provide in-home consultation to families, ensuring every child’s unique needs are met.
Key Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Current state licensure and ASHA certification (or eligibility)
- Previous experience working with early childhood populations preferred
- Strong understanding of IEP and IFSP processes and documentation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially for collaboration with educators, caregivers, and support staff
- Adaptability to work across multiple sites and home environments
- Dedication to empowering and educating families as integral partners in intervention
Responsibilities:
- Provide speech and language screenings, evaluations, and therapy to children birth-5
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP/IFSP goals in collaboration with district staff
- Support and coach parents, giving them effective tools and strategies
- Assist and advise home visitors when indicated by program plans
- Maintain thorough and timely documentation in compliance with school and state guidelines
- Foster a supportive, inclusive environment for young learners and their families
