School Speech Language Pathologist - Los Angeles, CA
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity serving students across PreK-8th grades in a vibrant educational community near Los Angeles. This full-time position (37.5 hours per week) runs for the entire school year and offers the flexibility to work virtually, with in-person assessments as needed. You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality speech therapy services for students with diverse needs, including those on the autism spectrum, nonverbal learners, and individuals with significant behavioral challenges.
The role involves supporting 1-2 school sites and includes both push-in and push-out models of service delivery. Direct elementary school experience is required, and expertise in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices and systems will play a vital part in supporting these students’ educational journeys.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver speech-language therapy services virtually, with in-person assessments as needed
- Support students (PreK-8) with varied communication needs, including autism and severe behaviors
- Plan and implement individualized therapy sessions using both push-in and pull-out models
- Utilize AAC methods and support nonverbal learners
- Maintain accurate documentation and billing in SEIS
- Collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to enhance student progress
- Conduct assessments, develop IEPs, and track student growth
- Travel between 1-2 local school sites as required
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Active SLP-CCC license in California (no waivers permitted)
- Relevant experience at the elementary level
- Demonstrated proficiency with AAC
- Knowledge of SEIS and experience with special education documentation
- Ability to work with students exhibiting severe communication and behavioral challenges
- Strong organizational and communication skills
