School-Based Speech Language Pathologist | Lapeer, Michigan
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as an onsite Speech Language Pathologist working with K-12 students for the 2026-2027 school year. This role welcomes both SLP-CCCs and new graduates (CFYs), with a particular preference for established supervisors for urban school settings. You’ll provide support at locations in and around Lapeer, Grand Blanc, Lansing, Detroit, and Flint, collaborating with educational teams to foster student success through evidence-based speech and language interventions.
Key Qualifications:
- Active or pending Michigan SLP license (NSY: candidates must show proof of completed application/pending status)
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology; official university transcripts required
- Schools-based SLP experience strongly preferred; CFYs considered
- Ability to work onsite and travel between school buildings as needed
- Comfortable engaging with diverse urban student populations
- Insight into challenges faced by urban youth and knowledge of relevant resources
- Strong collaborative, communication, and documentation skills
- Prior supervisory experience appreciated, especially for placements in Flint
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual and group speech-language therapy tailored to student IEPs
- Participate in MET and IEP meetings, setting annual and short-term goals
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to embed language development strategies school-wide
- Maintain thorough progress notes and records in compliance with all regulations
- Lead professional development on language development and SLP best practices
- Evaluate, write reports, and support eligibility determinations for special education services
- Train and support AAC device users and their families
- Manage therapy-related materials and equipment
This contract position is full-time (35 hours weekly), running from August 17 to June 11, across the academic year.
