Based near Grand Blanc, MI, with opportunities in neighboring areas, you'll support learners through individualized therapy and collaborative teamwork.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging one-on-one and group speech/language therapy for eligible K-12 students.
- Collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to enhance communication development in the classroom and beyond.
- Set annual goals and short-term objectives; participate actively in IEP and MET meetings.
- Maintain comprehensive records, progress documentation, and ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines.
- Contribute as a valued team member in referring students for additional services when needed.
- Provide in-service training and professional development sessions for school staff on effective language intervention strategies.
- Conduct student evaluations, generate thorough assessment reports, and determine special education eligibility.
- Support training and ongoing use of AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) systems for students.
- Organize, maintain, and requisition therapy materials, supplies, and equipment to support your work.
- Travel between assigned school buildings as needed to provide on-site services to students.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to meet the needs of the school community.
Qualifications:
- Active or applied-for SLP license in Michigan (proof of completed application and pending status required for consideration).
- ASHA CCCs preferred; strong CFY candidates will be considered.
- Previous school-based or pediatric experience is highly valued.
- Comfort and adaptability providing onsite therapy across different sites.
- Official university transcripts are required prior to presentation.
- Experience or familiarity with challenges faced by urban youth, and ability to suggest resources to support them.
- Preferred: Established clinical supervisor (especially for Flint openings).
