Speech Language Pathologist in Flushing, NY
Step into a rewarding school-based role supporting students from kindergarten through age 21 as a Speech-Language Pathologist. This contract position will provide coverage during a maternity leave for the next 4-5 months and begins as soon as possible. Work closely with a diverse caseload, delivering essential speech and language services within a collaborative educational setting.
Schedule runs from 9 am to 3 pm, with an unpaid lunch break. You’ll primarily offer pull-out services, with some opportunities for push-in support as well. Experience working with alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) devices, including eyegaze technology, will serve you well in addressing each student’s unique needs.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences
- Valid SLP licensure for New York State and ASHA CCCs (Certificate of Clinical Competence)
- Experience in a school setting preferred
- Proficiency in using AAC devices, especially eyegaze technology
- Ability to work with students from K through age 21 across diverse abilities
- Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver speech and language therapy to students, with a focus on pull-out services
- Develop, implement, and document individualized therapy plans and goals
- Consult with classroom teachers and support staff to foster student progress
- Incorporate assistive technology tools such as AAC and eyegaze into therapy sessions
- Complete timely progress monitoring and IEP documentation
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students
