Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in Des Plaines, IL
Step into a vibrant educational environment near Des Plaines, IL, as a full-time Speech-Language Pathologist serving a dedicated high school community. This contract opportunity is available for the first semester of the 26/27 school year and focuses on making a meaningful difference for students while covering an FMLA leave. You will work with a manageable caseload of approximately 45-50 students and play a pivotal role in supporting their communication needs and academic success.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution
- Active Illinois SLP license and Professional Educator License (PEL)
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA
- Experience delivering SLP services in a school or pediatric setting, preferably at the secondary level
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Commitment to evidence-based practices and individualized student care
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative speech and language therapy services, primarily to high school students
- Assess, diagnose, and develop individualized treatment plans tailored to students’ needs
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and families to support educational outcomes
- Complete required documentation, including progress reports and IEP paperwork, in a timely manner
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the multidisciplinary team
- Offer guidance to staff regarding speech and language strategies within the classroom environment
