Speech Language Pathologist in Chicago, IL
Step into a rewarding full-time opportunity working within an Adaptive Behavior Learning Environment (ABLE program) near Chicago, IL. As a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist supporting students in a school setting, you’ll collaborate with educators and fellow specialists to provide essential interventions that empower students to develop their communication abilities.
This contract position offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule from 8 AM to 3 PM (with a half-hour unpaid lunch), totaling 32.5 hours per week. You’ll gain valuable experience working with a diverse student population, using your expertise to positively impact their daily learning and social interactions.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Master’s degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders or related field required
- Active state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist (or eligibility in Illinois)
- Prior experience delivering speech therapy services in a school setting preferred
- Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
- Compassionate approach when working with students exhibiting adaptive and behavioral needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver evidence-based speech and language intervention to students enrolled in the ABLE program
- Assess, diagnose, and document student communication needs
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with IEP goals
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student progress
- Participate in IEP meetings and provide recommendations to support inclusive learning
- Maintain thorough records and progress reports
