School Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) | Arlington Heights, Illinois
Step into a dynamic contract opportunity supporting young learners in specialized PreK programs. This full-time role offers the chance to work across two welcoming schools, focusing exclusively on preschoolers aged 3-5. Coverage is needed for a maternity leave from early to mid-October through March, making this an ideal role for speech-language professionals who thrive in varied and collaborative educational settings.
As you divide your time between two engaging sites, you’ll collaborate with a dedicated team across four PreK classrooms. Evaluations are conducted using a transdisciplinary approach, emphasizing play-based assessments—experience with Transdisciplinary Play Based Assessment (TPBA) will stand out, though an eagerness to learn is valued. The current SLP has provided integrated Spanish-English supports, so Spanish language skills would be a strong asset, though not required.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current or eligibility for SLP - CCC, SLP - CFY, or SLP licensure relevant to school-based practice.
- Experience or strong interest in working within school-based and PreK (3-5 years old) environments.
- Familiarity or willingness to learn Transdisciplinary Play Based Assessment.
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Adaptability for contract assignments and working in multiple locations.
- Team-focused attitude and strong communication skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct speech-language services to PreK students across two vibrant campuses.
- Participate in team-based multi-disciplinary evaluations and planning.
- Collaborate with classroom staff to support student development and communication.
- Help assess and document student progress using evidence-based methodologies.
