Certified Autism Specialist (CAS) - Redwood City, California
Make a positive impact in education by supporting students as an Autism Specialist and Case Manager. This contract role plays an essential part in designing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive support services for students with autism. You’ll collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to ensure each student receives individualized strategies tailored to their unique needs.
Key Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Background in special education, psychology, social work, or a related field
- Previous experience working with students on the autism spectrum
- Strong knowledge of autism-specific interventions and best practices
- Experience with case management, including developing and monitoring IEPs/504 plans
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, counselors, families, and related service providers
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
- Familiarity with school-based supports and regulatory requirements
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as a point of contact for autism spectrum students and their families
- Conduct assessments to identify strengths, needs, and effective supports
- Develop, implement, and adjust student support plans in collaboration with IEP teams
- Facilitate social, academic, and behavioral interventions based on evidence-based practices
- Track student progress and maintain up-to-date records
- Consult and provide training to school staff on autism-related topics
- Advocate for resources and ensure legal compliance with student plans
