Your options are endless when you take an SLP job in Nevada. Las Vegas is the fastest growing city in the US, with more than 1,000 people moving in each week. There is no place in the world like it. The allure is totally of its own making: the wide array of people, top-shelf shows and world-class entertainers, “The Strip’s” site-seeing, and the potential for the big win. Almost 37 million visitors visit annually and TripAvisor.com just named it the most visited place in the world. The Bellagio, where Cirque de Soleil performs ‘O,’ attracts throngs of people who wait patiently to view the free choreographed water show. Las Vegas has 19 of the 20 largest hotels in the world to cater to its wildly successful tourism and gaming industries: Mandalay Bay, the Tropicana, the Palms, Excalibur, and The Luxor just to name a few.
However, once you have gotten beyond “The Strip,” nature begins to reassert itself. There are a variety of adventures to be had at Great Basin National Park. Salt flats, caverns, the mining industry, and the geographic and cultural diversity of the area are apparent and worth investigating. To see nature harnessed, visit the Hoover Dam which is only 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas. The American Society of Civil Engineers rated it one of America’s Seven Modern Civil Engineering Wonders. For a different take on man versus nature, travel Highway 50, known as the Loneliest Highway in America, so named by “Life” magazine, with only a few road stops in its 287-mile stretch. Yet with all of these attractions most of Nevada is still uninhabited, brush-covered desert. You’ll have plenty to see and do during your next SLP job to Nevada.
