School Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) | Biola, California
Step into a meaningful opportunity supporting students in the elementary setting as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) for a contract assignment covering a maternity leave from mid-October to early February. You'll collaborate with a highly supportive supervising SLP through a virtual model, ensuring you have guidance as you help students progress toward their communication goals.
In this role, you will provide direct services to a diverse TK-5 caseload in a welcoming elementary school environment. Before beginning, you’ll connect with the supervising SLP, making sure you feel comfortable and compatible working together—a crucial step to set you up for success during your contract.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active California SLPA license required
- Minimum of 3 months’ experience as an SLPA, preferably in a school setting
- Bilingual Spanish skills are a plus, though not mandatory
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt to new environments and collaborate with other professionals
Responsibilities:
- Deliver speech and language interventions under SLP supervision
- Implement individualized education plan (IEP) goals for assigned students
- Document session notes and student progress
- Support classroom teachers and paraprofessionals with strategies to foster communication goals throughout the school day
- Participate in collaborative meetings and case consultations as needed
